Warm blankets, woolly socks… it’s officially cocooning season. In the world of food and drinks, one thing we all seem to love about this time of year is finding ways to incorporate the essence of the season into our menu. Here, we’ve highlighted some of our favourite Isautier Rum food and beverage pairings. Light the chimney and gather round.

Hot Buttered Apple Cider with Rum

There’s nothing quite like a mug of hot buttered apple cider… With Isautier Rum of course! This heart- and hand-warming recipe, courtesy of Once Upon a Chef, is simmered and steeped with all your favourite seasonal spices: cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg and clove. We recommend using Isautier Agricultural White Rum in this recipe, as its rich aromas of Bourbon vanilla and candied fruits perfectly complement the sweet and spiced profile of this cocooning cider.

Fettuccini Alfredo

What’s more comforting than a hearty bowl of pasta enrobed in a creamy alfredo sauce? This Taste of Home recipe adds a pinch of nutmeg and pepper, a perfect way to introduce the flavours of the season. Rich, creamy dishes like this one pair well with smooth, aged rums, like our Isautier 7-Year-Old Rum. Aromatic, full-bodied and well-balanced, this rum reveals hints of pepper and spices as you sip, which will highlight these same ingredients in the sauce.

Spicy Dark Chocolate Bark

Dark chocolate, dried fruits, nuts and a bit of spicy ginger are all you need to create a delicious, warming dessert. They also happen to pair wonderfully with gold sipping rums, like Isautier Gold Rum Barrik. For this pairing, we’re matching Savvy Eats’ dark chocolate and candied ginger bark with a mellow and full-bodied gold rum, whose notes of vanilla, caramel, honey and nougat make it practically a dessert on its own. You’ll love the way the woodiness of this rum plays off of the slightly bitter dark chocolate and nuts, while its sweet fruitiness harmonises perfectly with the confectionery qualities of the candied orange and ginger.
We hope you enjoy this seasonal tasting menu as much as we’ve enjoyed sharing it with you. Join us on Facebook (@isautier.rum) and Instagram (@rhum_isautier) for more rum tasting tips and cocktail recipes and let us know which of these pairings you love the most.
